IS YOUR FREIGHT FULLY INSURED? When
arranging for shipment of high value cargo, it is important to know
whether the carrier has cargo insurance sufficient to cover the entire
value of the cargo in the event of a loss. Some of our customers
are often surprised to learn their freight was not insured for its
full value when they use carriers, other than YTC. Many carriers use wording in contracts, quotes, and freight bills such as: "Cargo
liability is limited to $2.50 per pound, maximum of $250,000 per
shipment. If excess amount is required, (carrier) must be notified in
writing prior to loading and the excess amount charges must be agreed
upon in writing. The declared amount must be stated upon the bill of
lading to assure full cargo protection." What this means to you is that your 40,000 pound load is insured for $100,000, no matter what the actual value might be. Yarbrough
Transfer Company provides up to $1,000,000 of cargo insurance on every
load and can provide additional insurance upon request. If you have
high value cargo to ship, YTC will make sure you are covered in the
unfortuate event of a loss. When
considering carriers, be sure to partner with a reputable company that
can easily provide proof of cargo insurance sufficient to cover the
value of your shipment. |
